Welcome to your

AT-HOME MAINTENANCE GUIDE

First off -

We want to thank you sincerely for coming into the studio!

It’s always a pleasure, and we truly hope you enjoyed your experience.

Our goal from here is to set you up for success with your new color at home.

We’ll go over how to properly wash your hair, how to care for your color at home, and when to schedule a maintenance appointment.

Washing:

Washing:

We recommend waiting at least 48 hours prior to washing your hair for the first time. This gives your color a chance to adhere to your hair.

When you do wash, we recommend using a sulfate-free shampoo! Sulfates are harsh cleaners that will quickly strip your hair color. Our favorite shampoo (that we use in the salon!) is by Intelligent Nutrients. You can pick some up in salon when you’re in the area.

The water you wash you hair in is incredibly important. The minerals in hard water do 3 things:

First, they tend to strip your color + deposit a dull, orangey tinge to your highlights. In addition, you’ll feel like your roots need a TON of shampoo to feel clean, and your ends will feel dry + brittle.

Finally, one of the most important steps to your wash:

A shower filter is a must if you want your color to last and your hair to stay healthy. You can find two of our favorites here and here.

At-Home Care:

UV rays can be damaging to your hair (just like your skin!) and they can strip your color from your hair. Be cautious about how much time you spend in direct sunlight, and wear sunhat if you can!

Chlorine and saltwater will both strip your color, so keep your hair dry if possible when swimming. If you do choose to swim, we recommend rinsing your hair immediately afterward to prevent the greenish yellow staining that occurs from chlorine buildup.

Turn down the temperature of your hot tools to prevent burning away your color! We recommend you always use a heat protectant, both to prevent damage and to keep your color fresh. Our favorite is this easy to use spray from Missio, which you can find online or in the salon.

Salon Maintenance

In-Salon Maintenance

Low-maintenance hair is our jam, and all of the below steps can be completely tweaked to your preference!

6 - 8 Weeks After

If you’re a blonde, this is a great time to visit us for a Signature Haircut + Treatment to remove the buildup from hard water to keep the tone of your blonde clean.

If you’re a brunette or redhead, this is a great time to visit us for a Gloss Refresh to deepen + refine the tone of your faded gloss.

10 - 15 Weeks After

This is a great time to visit us for a Partial Touch Up Session. We’ll add brightness + depth where it’s needed most, refresh your gloss, and trim your hair to keep it healthy.

The brighter you like to feel, the sooner this appointment should be scheduled.

15+ Weeks After:

Once the 4 month mark has passed, you can allow your color to grow in indefinitely, or you can schedule a Full Touch Up Session! This session is designed to fully refresh your highlights, lowlights and gloss.

Once the 8 month mark has passed, you may be better suited for a Transformation Session depending on how light you’re looking to go.
